On January 8, 2019, the Polish Parliament received the governmental draft of a major amendment to the Code of Civil Procedure. It is supposed to improve and speed up the recognition of cases by courts and increase the role of mediation.
The draft contains a number of solutions that deserve the approval, including, inter alia, the prohibition of abuse of procedural rights, interest on unpaid process costs, delivery of pleadings in electronic form or the possibility of informing the parties about the probable outcome of the case.
In addition, the draft restores separate proceedings in commercial cases.
