On 6th of October Sejm passed the Law on Amending Laws to Counter Usury. The law amends the Civil Code, the Code of Civil Procedure, the Criminal Code, the Banking Law and other legislation to better protect borrowers.
Amendments to the Civil Code include the introduction of a strict limit on so-called non-interest costs of granting a loan, which include margins, commissions, preparation fees and insurance costs, among others, as well as the introduction of regulations on collateral provided by the borrower.
